The world soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has won 2017 Ballon d’Or award in addition to other four he has in his record, his latest recognition place him on same edge with his Argentina contender, Lionel Messi who has also won same award five times in his career.
The award ceremony held in France was attended by a host of football legends including Ronaldo De Lima, Kaka, Roberto Carlos, and several others.
The 32-year-old Portuguese forward won the award for the first time in 2008 after a brilliant season with Manchester United where he won one UEFA Champions League and three English Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson.
His 80 million Pounds move from Manchester United to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009, paved the way for further club successes, as well as huge rivalry from FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who has enjoyed as much club success.
In Madrid, however, Ronaldo has won three, UEFA Champions League titles, two La liga titles, two UEFA Super Cup, two FIFA Club World Cup, two Copa del Rey, among other titles. He also won the ballon d’Or four more time, equaling Lionel Messi’s records of five ballon d’Or awards, his latest coming in 2017, a day after scoring a cracker in the UEFA Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, and setting a record as the only player to score in all matches of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
